Example 26; Synthesis of 2-methyl-2-methylamino-propionamide (5a)To a mixture of 2-bromo-2-methyl-propionamide (9.12 g, 54.93 mmol) and silver (I) oxide (14.4 g, 102.9 mmol) in THF (120 mL) was added methyl amine (60 mL, 2M in THF, 120 mmol) dropwise at room temperature. The resulting mixture was stirred at the same temperature for 15 h. The reaction mixture was filtered, and the filtrate was concentrated. The residue was purified by flash chromatography on silica gel with ethyl acetate/methanol (4:1) to give 5a (3.02 g, 47%). 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3) δ 2.31 (s, 3H), 1.32 (s, 3H), 1.29 (s, 3H).
