ChemicalBook CAS DataBase List 2-Propanethiol

2-Propanethiol synthesis

14synthesis methods
2-Propanethiol is synthesised by the reaction of sodium hydrosulfide and brominated isopropane.
-

Yield:-

Reaction Conditions:

with hydrogen sulfide at 160; under 1500.15 Torr;

Steps:

1
Hydrogen sulfide and propylene were mixed at a molar ratio of 1: 1, and pressurized at 0.2 MPa by the compressor, heated to 160 ° C by means of a heating furnace. The volume space velocity of propylene was 400 h-1, and solid acid catalyst was added into a thermally insulated fixed bed reactor. The catalyst used was composed of molybdenum oxide 1% by mass, cobalt oxide 1%, ZSM-5 molecular sieve 5%. The rest was alumina carrier. ZSM-5 molecular sieve has silica-alumina molar ratio of 10, grain size of 5μm. The catalyst pore volume was 0.4 ml / g. The specific surface area is 137 m2 / g.The reaction effluent was cooled to 25 ° C by heat transfer, hydrogen sulfide was fed into gas phase return, the liquid phase was fractionated to give isopropyl mercaptan, n-propanethiol, isopropyl sulfide and n-propyl sulfide four products, and has propylene conversion rate of 80.2%. The selectivity of isopropyl mercaptan was 89.4%, the total yield of isopropyl mercaptan was 87.6%.
