Preparation of B:
To a solution A (9.2 g, 82.049 mmol, 1 eq.) in MeOH (60 mL) was added Pd/C (0.87 g, 8.205 mmol, 0.10 eq.) under N2atmosphere. Then the N2atmosphere was replaced by H2atmosphere. The mixture was stirred at room temperature overnight. The resulting mixture was filtered, the filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue 2-(oxolan-2-yl)ethan-l-ol (B) (4.6 g, 48.26%) can be used for the next step without further purification.
