A mixture of 1-methyl-5-(4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolan-2-yl)-1H-pyrazole (500 mg), 3-bromopyridine (0.254 mL), sodium carbonate (635 mg), bis(di-tert-butyl(4-dimethylaminophenyl)phosphine)dichloropalladium(II) (85 mg), water (1.2 mL), and 1,4-dioxane (12 mL) was stirred at 100° C. for 2 hours.
The reaction mixture was cooled to room temperature, the insolubles were filtered off, and the solvent was distilled off under reduced pressure.
The obtained residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (methanol-ethyl acetate), thereby obtaining 3-(1-methyl-1H-pyrazol-5-yl)pyridine (277 mg).
MS m/z (M+H): 160.
