Preparation of 2-Amino-5,6-Dichloro-3,4-Dihydroquinazoline
Preparation of 2-Amino-5,6-Dichloro-3,4-Dihydroquinazoline A solution of 2.58 kg of 2-amino-5,6-dichlorobenzylamine in 2.7 L of toluene was prepared at 50-60°. A solution of cyanogen bromide (1.558 kg in 8 L toluene) was added over 2-3 hours. Following addition, the reaction mixture was stirred for 1.5 hours at room temperature, then heated to reflux for 1 hour. The mixture was cooled to room temperature for 12 hours, and the mixture filtered. The filter cake was washed with toluene (2*2 L) followed by hexane (2*2 L) and dried to give 2-amino-5,6-dichloro-3,4-dihydroquinazoline hydrobromide in 70% to 90% yield.
