In a 50 ml round bottom flask,0.0581 g (1.0 mmol) of acetone was added,0.0075 g (1.1 mmol) of imidazole,0.0172 g (0.1 mmol) of ruthenium trichloride,0.0198 g of 1,10-phenanthroline (0.1 mmol) 0.7080 g (2.0 mmol) of selectfluor 0.2160 g (2.0 mmol) of sodium carbonate,5.0 ml of dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO), heated to 120 ° (: reflux for 1 hour to complete reaction with acetone (TLC). The reaction mixture was poured into 20 ml of water and extracted with ethyl acetate (10 ml X 3). The organic phases were combined and dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate.The solvent was evaporated and the residue was chromatographed on silica gel (eluent: petroleum ether / ethyl acetate = 7/1) to give 0.2518 g of a white solid , The yield was 97%.
