Steps:
General procedure: A mixture of 15a or 15b (0.03 mol) and 2-fluoro-4-nitrophenolor 4-nitrophenol 16a-b (45 mmol) in chlorobenzene (50 mL) wasreacted at 190 C for 30 h. Then the mixture was then poured into abeaker containing petroleum ether (100 mL). The precipitate wascollected by filtration, and dried to afford the desired product 17ad.
