A mixture of compound 26'-1 (300mg), tetrahydrofuran (1mL), water (1mL) and lithium hydroxide monohydrate (92mg) was stirred at room temperature for 3 hours, adjusted to pH=7 with 2M hydrochloric acid, extracted with ethyl acetate, and the organic phase Concentrate to dryness to obtain 261 mg of 4-bromothieno[2,3-c]pyridine-2-carboxylic acid (26'-2) as a white solid with a yield of 92%.
