Intermediate Ri: 4-Isocyanato-1,2,3,5,6,7-hexahydro-s-indacene
To a solution of phosgene mL, 20 % weight in toluene, 8.4 mmol) in EtOAc (90mL) was added dropwise a solution of 1,2,3,5,6,7-hexahydro-s-indacen-4-amine (589mg, 3.4 mmol) in EtOAc ( mL) at ambient temperature. The resulting reaction mixture was then heated to reflux for 3 hours and upon cooling was filtered and concentrated in vacuo to afford the title compound as a brown oil (756 mg, 100 % yield). The crude product was used directly without further purification.1H NMR (CDC13): 6 6.8 (s, 1 H), 2.89 (m, 8 H) and 2.09 (m, 4 H).
