6.1.4 General method for the synthesis of 4-methyl-2-aryl-5-(2-aryl/benzylthiazol-4-yl)thiazole (25-64)
General procedure: A mixture of 2-bromo-1-(2-(4-phenyl)-4-methyl thiazol-5yl)ethanone (1mmol) and substituted thioamide (1.1mmol) was refluxed in dry ethanol (15mL). The reaction was monitored on TLC. After completion of the reaction; reaction mixture was poured in ice water and extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with sodium bicarbonate and water. The solvent was dried over sodium sulphate and removed under vacuum. The product was purified by crystallization from ethanol.
