Description 24. 4-(Propyloxy)cyclohexanone (D24); A stirred solution of 8-(propyloxy)-1 ,4-dioxaspiro[4.5]decane (D23, 9.96g, 0.050mole) in tetrahydrofuran (20ml) at room temperature under argon was treated with 5M HCI acid (100ml) and maintained for 18h. The mixture was diluted with water (300ml) and extracted with dichloromethane (2 x 250ml). The combined extract was washed with dil. brine, then dried (Na2SO4) and concentrated under vacuum at -150C to leave the title compound as a colourless oil (7.8g, 100%).1H NMR δ (CDCI3 400MHz): 0.95 (3H, t), 1.57-1.69 (2H, m), 1.87-2.00 (2H, m), 2.04-2.14 (2H, m), 2.20-2.32 (2H, m), 2.52-2.63 (2H, m), 3.46 (2H, t), 3.67-3.72 (1 H, m).
