Step 2. Methyl 4-(pyridin-3-yloxy) benzoic acid. To a solution of methyl 4-(pyridin-3- yloxy)benzoate in MeOH (10 mL) was added aq. NaOH (2 mL). The mixture was stirred at 75°C for 1 hr, diluted with IN HC1(10 ml), and extracted with EtOAc. Combined organic layers were dried over anhydrous Na2S04 and concentrated under reduced pressure to give 4-(pyridin-3 -yloxy) benzoic acid (0.8 g, 93% yield). LC-MS: m/z: 215(M+H)+.
