4-nitro-4'-(trifluoromethoxy)-1,1'-biphenyl (7a) 2.2 g (7.7 mmol) in ethanol 40 ml,10 ml of distilled waterAnd add 4.33g (77mmol) of iron, 3 drops of concentrated hydrochloric acid were added and reacted at 110° C. for 4 hours. When the reaction was completed, the residue was filtered through celite and concentrated under reduced pressure, and the residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (eluent, ethyl acetate/normal-hexane = 1/4) to obtain the target compound 7b as a brown solid (2g, Quantitative).
