General Synthesis of Simple Isatin Schiff Base
General procedure: The synthesis route of the isatin Schiff bases is shown in Scheme (1). In a flask, 1.1 mmol amine and 1 mmol isatin were dissolved in 20 ml methanol, and the mixture was heated under refluxing until the disappearance of isatin. The solvent was evaporated in vacuum and, the residue was separated by column chromatography (silica gel, petroleum ether/ethyl acetate = 10: 1- 4: 1), giving isatin Schiff base compounds.
