General procedure for 5-chloromethyl-3-phenyl-1,2,4-oxadiazoles
General procedure: To a solution of 4-substituted N-hydroxybenzimidamide (0.49 mmol, 1.03 eq.) andtriethylamine (66 L, 0.47 mmol, 1.0 eq.) in toluene (1 mL) at 0 C was added dropwisechloroacetyl chloride (38 L, 0.47 mmol, 1.0 eq.) diluted in toluene (1 mL). The solutionwas stirred at 0 C for 15 min, and then at 110 C for 4 h. The mixture was then cooledto room temperature, extracted with toluene, washed with water and brine, dried overNa2SO4, and concentrated under vacuum to give the desired product which was usedwithout further purification.
