2.4. General Procedure for the Synthesis of 14a-k and15a-g
General procedure: To a stirring solution of intermediates 12a-k and 13a-g (3mmol) in chloroform (15 mL), active MnO2 (6 mmol) wasadded. The reaction was stirred overnight at room temperatureto complete the reaction. Then the reaction mixture wasfiltered to remove MnO2 followed by evaporation of organicsolvent to yield the compounds 14a-k and 15a-g.1-benzyl-2-(methylthio)-1H-imidazole-5-carbaldehyde(14a). Yield 95%; 86.4 °C; IR (CCl3) υ (cm-1) 1659 (C=Oketone), LC-MS (ESI) m/z 234.0000 (M+H+).
