b) A mixture of 40 mmol of compound 24.2 and 42 mmol of CuCN in 100 mL of dry DMF was stirred at 150 °C overnight. The mixture was diluted with 500 mL of water, extracted with ether for several times. The mixture was then washed with diluted aqueous NH40H and water and dried with anhydrous Na2S04.
