10.a Intermediate 2: 5-(hydroxymethy)isozazole-3-carboxylic acid
Ethyl 5-(hydroxymethyl)wasoxazole-3-carboxylate (see Example 8, 1.5 g; 8.76 mmol) and 1 M sodium hydroxide (18 mL, 18 mmol) were mixed, stirring for 1.5 hours at room temperature.
Brine (40 mL) was added and 6N hydrochloric acid was used to adjust the pH value to 2.
Acetic ether (6*60 mL) was used for extraction and then magnesium sulphate was used for desiccation.
After evaporation, the product 5-(hydroxymethy)isozazole-3-carboxylic acid (1.2 g, yield rate 95%) was obtained, which was a white solid.
