To a solution of methyl 6-methoxypyridazine-3-carboxylate (16.40 g, 97.531 mmol) in methanol (55 mL) and THF (275 mL) was added NaBHi (11.07 g, 292.592 mmol) and CaCh (10.82 g, 97.531 mmol) in portions. The reaction was stirred at rt for lh and quenched with water and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was chromatographed on a silica gel column with methanol/ CH2CI2 (1/17) to get (6- methoxypyridazin-3-yl)m ethanol (10.5g, 73%) as a brown oil. 1H NMR (300 MHz, methanol-i/4) d 7.24 (d, J = 9.0Hz, 1H), 7.22 (d, J = 9.0Hz, 1H), 4.79 (s, 2H), 4.10 (s, 3H). LCMS (ESI, m/z): 141 [M+H]+.
