Typical procedure
General procedure: A mixture of tetrahydrothiopyran-4-one (1 mmol), 2-cyano-Nphenylacetamide (1 mmol), sulfur powder (1.5 mmol) and barium aluminate nanopowder (0.025 g) in EtOH (90% v/v) wasreuxed (80°C) for the appropriate time. The progress of thereaction was monitored by TLC (Table 1). After completion ofthe reaction, the reaction mixture was dissolved in hot ethanol.Simple fltration removed the catalyst. The solvent was concentrated, and recrystallization purifed the crude products fromEtOH.
