1.1 (1) Esterification reaction:
117 g (1 mol) of L-isoproline was suspended in 1500 mL of methanol, and while stirring well, 179 g (1.5 mol) of thionyl chloride was slowly added to the suspension.After the addition, the temperature was refluxed for 3 h. The resulting reaction mixture was cooled to room temperature and filtered.The filter cake was washed several times with methanol.The filtrate and the methanol wash were combined and concentrated under reduced pressure.
