Reaction Conditions:
Stage #1: 1-methyl-piperazine;carbon disulfidewith potassium hydroxide in tetrahydrofuran;water at 20; for 12 h;
Stage #2: with iodine in tetrahydrofuran;methanol;water at 20; for 1 h;

4.2.6 Bis(dimethylthiocarbamoyl)disulfide (2a)
General procedure: General Procedure for Compounds 2a-v. An aqueous solution of potassium hydroxide (1.5g in 1mL of water) was added dropwise at room temperature to a stirred solution of 1g starting materials in THF (10mL), followed by the addition of 1.5mL carbon disulfide into the mixture. The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for overnight, and the saturated I2 solution in methanol was added dropwise to mixture until the color did not fade. After 1h, the mixture was filtrated, and the residue was then purified by column chromatography on silica gel to afford target compounds.
