3-Bromopropiolic acid (16)
To a solution of propiolic acid 15 (5.0g, 71.4 mmol) in acetone were added AgNO3 (0.61 g, 3.6% mmol) and Nbromosuccinimide(15.2 g, 85.7 mmol). The reaction mixture was stirredfor 4 h at room temperature and then diluted with 10 ml DI water.The product was extracted with DCM. The organic layer was dried oversodium sulfate and concentrated in vacuo. The residue was purified bysolid silica gel chromatography using ethyl acetate/hexanes as eluent togive product 16 (4.5 g, 42%). ESI-MS m/z [C3HBrO2+H]+ 148.
