General procedure for synthesis of hydrazones
General procedure: Meglumine (0.15 mmol) was added to a mixture of carbonyl compound (1 mmol) andhydrazine (1 mmol) in water-ethanol (1:1, 4 ml). The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature and monitored by thin-layer chromatography (TLC). After completion of the reaction, water (5 ml) and ethyl acetate (5 ml) were added and the product was extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic phase was dried over anhydrous Na2SO4, and the solvent was removed under vacuum. The crude product was then purified by column chromatography or recrystallized (petroleum ether-EtOAc).
