5. General experimental procedure for (E)-conjugated polyene sulfone
General procedure: 1 mmol compound 2 was dissolve in 10~20 mL anhydrous THF. 2 equiv Grignard reagent was added dropwise in ice bath. After 15 minutes, the reaction mixture was quenched with a saturated NH4Cl solution, and extracted with EtOAc (10 mL × 3). The combined organic phase was dried over anhydrous Na2SO4, filtered and concentrated in vacuum. Residue was purified by flash column chromatography (Silica gel, eluent: PE : EA = 10) to give colorless oil except white solid phenyl vinyl sulfone.
