Steps:

1-9 (1) Synthesis of α-chloroacetophenone

Add 200 mL of o-xylene to a 250 mL three-necked flask with a drying unit with 74.40 g (0.557 mol) of anhydrous aluminum chloride, cooling in an ice water bath, then, 60.0 g (0.531 mol) of α-chloroacetyl chloride was slowly added dropwise. After the addition is completed, reaction at room temperature for 3 hours, stop stirring. The reaction solution was poured into a beaker containing 200 mL of ice water and stirred. The mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate, and the organic phase was washed with water until neutral. Dry over anhydrous magnesium sulfate. The solvent removed under reduced pressure to give a white solid 76.17g, The yield is 78.6%.
