[1990] 4-Pyridyl Acetic Acid (2.362 g) from Step A above, was taken up in CH2Cl2 (118 ml). To this was added trimethylsilyl isocyanate (27.87 ml). The reaction stirred for 67 hr then was diluted with CH2Cl2 (700 ml) and washed with saturated aqueous NaHCO3 (150 ml). The aqueous layer was extracted with 2×200 ml CH2Cl2. The organic layers were combined, dried over MgSO4, filtered and concentrated. The crude product was purified by flash silica column chromatography eluting with 2% (10% NH4OH:MeOH)/CH2Cl2.
