In a flame-dried flask under inert atmosphere, S3 (17.4 g, 69.7 mmol, 1.0 equiv.) was dissolved in 4 M MeOH/HCl (435 mL) and allowed to stir overnight. The resulting solution was reduced to yield the brown oil 3 (18.3 g, >99 %). Characterization data was identical to previous reports.[21]
