Steps:
30.1 Step 1: methyl 5-bromo-3-fluoropicolinate
To a solution of 5-bromo-3-fluoropyridine-2-carboxylic acid in MeOH (40 mL) was added SOCl2 (2 mL) at rt slowly. The resulting mixture was stirred at 60 o C overnight. The volatiles were evaporated, the product was obtained as a white solid. (2.24 g, 100%). 1H NMR (400 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ 8.71 (m, 1 H), 8.44-8.41 (m, 1 H), 3.90 (s, 1 H); LC-MS: m/z [M+H]+ 233.9, 235.9.
