3-nitrobenzenesulfonyl chloride (222.0 mg, 1.0 mmol) was suspended in DCM(5 mL) and the reaction mixture was placed in an ice bath. To the reaction was added a mixture of diethylamine (103.5 pL, 1.0 mmol) and TEA (167.3 pL, 1.2 mmol) dropwise. The reaction was stirred at 0 °C for 1 hour. The reaction mixture was diluted with DCM and washed with water and brine. The organic layer was collected, dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, filtered, and concentrated in vacuo. The crude material, compound 8-1, was carried onto the next step without further purification.
