General procedure: (1) equimolar amounts (0.02 mol) of amine and salicylaldehyde were mixed in a 30-40 mL of ethanol solution and refluxed for 2-4 h. After the reacting mixture were cooled to room temperature, the generated Schiff bases were crystallized from solution (Yield: 1a 86.6%, 2a 96%, 3a 90%, 4a 96%);
