To a stirred solution of 1- methylcyclopropan-1 -amine hydrochloride salt (429 mg, 3.99 mmol, 1.00 equiv) and triethylamine (268 mg, 2.65 mmol, 1.00 equiv) in CH2CI2 (6 mL) was added trimethylsilyl isocyanate (366 mg, 3.18 mmol, 1.20 equiv). The resulting mixture was stirred at room temperature overnight and was quenched by the dropwise addition of CH3OH (2 mL) at 0 °C. The resulting solution warmed to room temperature and stirred for an additional 1 h. The resulting mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure. The crude product was precipitated from ΟΗ:Ε20 (1 :40) affording 300 mg (66%) of the title compound as a white solid.
