Preparation

(a) 1-(2-Methyl-9,10-dioxoanthracene-1-yl)-2-methylanthracene-9,10-dione in 350 ~ 380 ℃ heat alone, or in low temperature with dehydrant processing, take off 2 Moore water; (b) 1-(2-Methyl-9,10-dioxoanthracene-1-yl)-2-methylanthracene-9,10-dione?aqueous cream content (with or without ammonia or salt all but), in 230 ~ 250 ℃ and under pressure heating 10 to 12 hours; (C) 1-(2-Methyl-9,10-dioxoanthracene-1-yl)-2-methylanthracene-9,10-dione?and Etanol/Potassium hydroxide heating 10 to 12 hours; (d) 1,6-Dibenzoylpyrene?with Aluminium chloride and Sodium chloride melting, and access to oxygen.

5,5'-Bisbenzoylamino-1,1'-dianthrimide- 2,2'carbazole , Indanthren Golden- Orange 3G, is prepared from 5,5'- bisbenzoylamino-1,1'-dianthrimide by ring closure in concentrated sulfuric acid .

Synthesis

Pyranthrone , (149), is prepared by double ring closure of 2,2'-dimethyl- 1,1'-bianthraquinonyl (148), which is obtained from 1-chloro-2-methylanthraquinone (147) by heating with copper powder in odichlorobenzene – pyridine. Ring closure occurs under alkaline conditions, e.g., KOH– isobutanol at 105 ?C ; process improvements are reported in , . The unsubstituted pyranthrone and its halogen derivatives are used as vat dyes and pigments.
