Properties

A white or yellowish white fibrous powder or coarse powder, almost odorless and tasteless. It can dissolve in water, dilute organic acid solution, insoluble in methanol, ethanol, benzene and other organic solvents, but some esterified products can dissolve in ethanol solution with less than 60% content. Its pH value is 3~4(1% aqueous solution), easy moisture absorption, heating to 55 ° C when brown, 220 ° C char, 400 ° C ash. Its relative density is 1.46. In pH3.4 acidic solution, neither gel nor precipitate. It has salt-out resistance and is stable to other metal ions except copper, chromium, iron (trivalent), lead and barium plasma.

Usage

Propyleneglycol alginate (CAS NO.9005-37-2) can be used as an emulsifier, stabilizer, and thickener used in food products. It could be with E number E405 tobe a food additive.
