3-phenylpropyl acrylate synthesis

4synthesis methods
-

Yield:85909-41-7 90%

Reaction Conditions:

with tert.-butylhydroperoxide;[bis(acetoxy)iodo]benzene;magnesium acetate in decane;butyl butyrate at 0;chemoselective reaction;

Steps:

4.2. General procedure for the DIB/TBHP protocol

General procedure: o a solution of the substrate in n-butyl butanoate was added DIB (1-1.5 equiv) and Mg(OAc)2·4H2O (1 equiv) at 0 °C. The resulting suspension was vigorously stirred and a solution of TBHP (5 M in decane, 3-6 equiv) was added. The solution was further stirred overnight at 0 °C (total consumption of starting material as indicated by TLC analysis) and then filtered. Diethyl ether was added to the filtrate (5 mL) and the solution was washed with water (5 mL). The solution was dried (MgSO4), evaporated and the residue was purified by flash column chromatography on silica gel using gradient or isocratic elution.
