The industrial product is a light yellow oily liquid with a vapor pressure of 2.7×10-2Pa (20℃), insoluble in water and soluble in various organic solvents. It is unstable under sunlight and easily decomposed in alkali. Toxicity: The acute oral LD50 of rats is 174-224 mg/kg. | [Uses]

Terallethrin was produced through a sequence typical of early allethrin type esters. Industrial manufacture began with preparation of the chrysanthemic acid (or chrysanthemate) acid chloride intermediate, generated from the corresponding acid under controlled chlorination conditions. In parallel, the required alcohol component, derived from substituted tetrahydrofurfuryl or related allylic alcohols, was synthesised and purified. These two fragments were then coupled via esterification in an anhydrous, base scavenged environment to form terallethrin, after which the crude product was refined by distillation or crystallisation to reach technical grade purity for formulation. | [Mechanism of action]
