Step 1. Prepare a mixture of 2-methoxy-5-(trifluoromethyl)aniline A. A methanolic solution of 4-methoxy-3-nitrobenzotrifluoride and 10% Pd/C catalyst (10% loading) was stirred overnight at room temperature in a hydrogen atmosphere. Upon completion of the reaction, the mixture was filtered through a diatomaceous earth pad to remove the catalyst, and the filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure and dried under vacuum to afford the target product 2-methoxy-5-(trifluoromethyl)aniline A in 99% yield as an off-white solid.ESI-MS m/z: 192.1 (MH+). | [References]
