The general procedure for the synthesis of 4-methoxypiperidine from the compound (CAS: 553672-12-1) was as follows: the compound (620 mg) obtained in step (1) was dissolved in methanol (20 mL) and 10% palladium-carbon catalyst (80 mg) was added. The reaction mixture was stirred for 3 hours at room temperature and under hydrogen atmosphere. Upon completion of the reaction, the reaction mixture was filtered through a membrane filter and the filtrate was concentrated under vacuum to afford 4-methoxypiperidine (290 mg, yield: 100%) as a light yellow oil.
