Octaphenylcyclotetrasiloxane can be physically blended into antifouling coatings in monomer form to reduce the surface energy of the coating, increase the flexibility of the film, and also act as an antifoaming agent. An example of its application is as follows: A heat-dissipating coating is composed of the following raw material components in parts: 100-150 parts polyvinyl chloride, 78-80 parts polyether polyol, 80-85 parts polymethyl methacrylate, 55-80 parts polytetrafluoroethylene, 65-70 parts polyisoprene, 80-90 parts polypropylene, 6-10 parts alumina, 6-8 parts magnesium oxide, 4-6 parts octaphenylcyclotetrasiloxane, 6-8 parts sodium thiosulfate, and 7-9 parts dodecyl diisocyanate. The composition includes: methylamine acetylacetonate, 4-6 parts yttrium acetylacetonate, 5-8 parts 2-thiophenecarboxyltrifluoroacetone, 6-8 parts methyl methacrylate, 6-8 parts dibutyltin dilaurate, 8-10 parts quartz powder, 8-10 parts silica powder, 8-12 parts silica, 7-9 parts n-butanol, 3-5 parts dimethyl carbonate, 2-4 parts p-phenylenediamine, 3-5 parts stearoylbenzoylmethane, 4-5 parts triethyl phosphite, 8-10 parts titanium dioxide, and 12-15 parts bentonite. This invention's heat-dissipating coating exhibits excellent heat dissipation, good adhesion, strong stability, and is safe and free of toxic side effects. |

Recrystallise it from AcOH, EtOAc, *C6H6 or *C6H6/EtOH. It forms two stable isomorphs and both forms, as well as the mixture, melt at 200-201o. There is a metastable form which melts at 187-189o.
