| Preparation | At room temperature, 2-amino-5-chlorobenzonitrile (0.4 mmol), 2-chlorophenylboronic acid (0.8 mmol), Pd(O2CCF3)2 (5 mol%), MsOH (10 eq), ligand 5,5'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine (7.5 mol%), 2-methyltetrahydrofuran (2 mL), and H2O (1 mL) were added to a Schlenk tube. The reaction mixture was stirred vigorously at 80 °C for 36 h. The mixture was poured into ethyl acetate, washed with saturated NaHCO3 (2 × 10 mL), and then washed with brine (1 × 10 mL). The aqueous layer was extracted with ethyl acetate, the organic layers were combined and dried over anhydrous Na2SO4, and concentrated under vacuum.
