| Uses | chamomile extract (Anthemis nobilis; Matricaria chamomilla) is has clinically proven anti-inflammatory and repairer properties. It is also considered bactericidal, anti-itching, soothing, antiseptic, purifying, refreshing, and hypoallergenic with the ability to neutralize skin irritants. There are various forms of chamomile, including Roman chamomile (Anthemis nobilis) and german chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla). german chamomile tends to be more potent than Roman because of its higher azulene content. Active constituents include azulene, bisabolol, and phytosterol. The chamomile plant is aromatic, and its flower heads are used to obtain aqueous-alcoholic extracts and the blue chamomile oil. Chamomile is considered a non-comedogenic raw material and can be particularly useful in aftershaves and eye treatment preparations, as well as in products for dry skin. |
