| | TETRAMETHYLRHODAMINE METHYL ESTER PERCHLORATE Usage And Synthesis |
| Description | Tetramethylrhodamine methyl ester (TMRM) perchlorate is a cell-permeant red fluorescent probe commonly used to monitor membrane potential of mitochondria using live cell fluorescence microscopy and flow cytometry. TMRM is a lipophilic cation accumulated by mitochondria and exhibits a red shift in the emission of 575 nm. However, when the membrane is depolarized, as in apoptosis, TMRM is not accumulated in the mitochondria. Thus, the strength of the fluorescence signal in mitochondria is used to assess cell viability. | | Uses | Potential-Sensitive fluorescent probe for measuring membrane potential changes in mitochondria | | Uses | Tetramethylrhodamine methyl ester perchlorate is a membrane potential probe. Dyes and metabolites. | | Excitation / Emission Maximum | 515, 555 nm/575 nm |
