Fluvestrant is an intramuscular drug developed by Astrazeneca and approved by the US Food and Drug Administration in April 2002 for the treatment of estrogen receptor-positive metastatic breast cancer in postmenopausal women whose disease continues to progress after anti-estrogen therapy. Many breast cancer cells have an estrogen receptor (ER), which stimulates the growth of these tumors. Flulvesant is a "pure" estrogen receptor antagonist without partial estrogen-like excitatory effect. It inhibits estrogen signaling pathways by binding, blocking and down-regulating ER, and can competitively bind to ER, with an affinity close to estrogen, 100 times that of tamoxifen. It is the only anti-estrogen drug that can be widely used in clinical practice after the failure of tamoxifen. Because this drug is endocrine therapy, it will not cause common adverse reactions of chemotherapy, so it has good compliance of patients. A number of clinical studies have found that the 250mg dose of flavixotron has a good therapeutic effect and is safe and stable in the second-line treatment of advanced breast cancer.
