Anastrozole is a third generation aromatase inhibitor. It's used to treat postmenopausal women with advanced breast cancer. A potent selective triazole aromatase inhibitor that blocks the cytochrome P-450 dependent aromatase and thereby blocks the biosynthesis of estrogen, a major factor in stimulating breast cancer cell growth. For the treatment of breast cancer, it is especially suitable for advanced breast cancer in women who have relapsed after menopause after hormone-assisted therapy.
