Aluminum chloride is a chemical compound with the chemical formula AlCl3.

Uses

Aluminium chloride is used widely in manufacturing rubber, lubricants, wood preservatives, and paints. It is used in pesticides and pharmaceuticals. The use of aluminum chloride that impacts most of us on a daily basis is its presence in antiperspirant deodorants. Aluminum chloride in antiperspirants works because the chemical produces a gel when it interacts with sweat.

Solubility

Aluminium chloride is soluble in benzene, carbon tetrachloride, chloroform. Freely soluble in numerous organic solvents, such as benzophenone, nitrobenzene.

What's more, the solubility of Aluminium chloride in pure water was found to be 31.09 and 31.77 wt-pct at 25 deg and 85 deg c, respectively, and decreased drastically to 10 and 0.1 wt-pct when the respective amounts of 20.3 and 37 wt-pct hydrochloric acid (hcl) were added in solution.
