What is 1,2-Dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine used for?

1,2-Dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine (DPPE) is an important component of biological membranes and is a phospholipid member of the glycerophosphatidylethanolamine family. 1,2-Dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine (DPPE) is used in the preparation of micelles for drug carriers, such as dextran- pla - dppe copolymer and Pluronic (F68) -DPPE copolymer micelles. In addition, studies of DPPE-cholesterol interactions have shown that DPPE is miscible with CHOL in the cholesterol molar fraction (xCHOL = 0.3 ~ 0.5) range. Cholesterol induced polycondensation of DPPE monolayers. At xCHOL = 0.4, the condensation of DPPE/CHOL monolayers was most significant when Ca2+ ions were present in the subphase.
