Description

Araguspongin B is a compound isolated from Pacific basin sponges with notable vasodilatory properties. It serves as an important signal transduction messenger, acting to promote the transfer of Ca2+ from intracellular stores. Araguspongin B has also been shown to exhibit an antagonizing effect on the calcium-releasing action of inosital 1,4,5-triphosphate at receptor levels in cerebral microsomes. Additionally, araguspongin B is an inhibitor of IP3R.
