1.2 Step 2: Synthesis of 1-ethyl-1H-indole-5-carboxylic acid
1-ethyl-1H-indole-5-carboxylic acid methyl ester (340mg, 1.67mmol), lithium hydroxide (211mg, 5.02mmol) were dissolved in ethanol (5mL) and water (2mL), heated at 80°C for 3 hours . The reaction solution was cooled to room temperature, adjusted to pH 3 with 2N hydrochloric acid, a white solid was precipitated, filtered, and the obtained solid was vacuum dried to obtain the product (260 mg, white solid) with a yield of 82.2%.
