4.2.4. Synthesis of 1-substituted-9H-pyrido[3,4-b]indole-3-carboxylic acid (5c-5o)
General procedure: To a solution of 4c-4o (0.5 mmol) in methanol (10 mL) wasadded 1 mol/l aqueous NaOH solution (10 mL), then the mixturewas stirred and heated at reflux for 2 h. After cooling to roomtemperature, the mixture was adjusted to pH 8 with 1 mol/l HClsolution. The precipitate was filtered off and the residue afford 5c-5o.
