15.III Part III-Synthesis of 6-Bromo-2,2-dimethyl-3,4-dihydro-2H-benzo[b][1,4]oxazine
To a solution of 6-bromo-2,2-dimethyl-2H-benzo[b][1,4]oxazin-3(4H)-one (2.46 g, 9.6 mmol) in anhydrous tetrahydrofuran (40 mL) under a nitrogen atmosphere was added a 10M solution of borane dimethyl sulfide complex in tetrahydrofuran (3.8 mL, 38.4 mmol) slowly.
The resulting solution was refluxed for 2 hours.
Next, the reaction mixture was cooled to ambient temperature and carefully quenched with the addition of methanol (10 mL).
The resulting mixture was heated to reflux for 10 minutes, and then the mixture was cooled and concentrated in vacuo to provide the crude product.
The crude product was redissolved in ethyl acetate, washed with water, brine, dried with sodium sulfate, filtered and concentrated in vacuo to yield title compound (2.29 g, 98% yield).
